About this plant

A dessert apple with a firm, aromatic crop that can be kept for later use. The name does not mean the tree is naturally miniature: rootstock and training determine how well it fits a small garden.

Care at a glance

Light
A sunny, sheltered position gives the best cropping.
Watering
Water young trees in dry spells; soak the root area and let excess water drain.
Soil
Fertile, well-drained soil; avoid a persistently wet planting hole.

Plan your care

Plan the pollination arrangement before planting; this cultivar is in flowering group 4. Choose a compatible flowering partner and check the mature size of both trees on their selected rootstocks.

A heavy crop can produce small fruit. Inspect clusters after natural early-summer fruit drop and thin where needed rather than trying to solve crowding with extra fertiliser. Leave access around the canopy for picking and pruning.

Growing tips

Only store sound fruit and check it periodically. A late eating season is not a promise that every apple will keep: maturity at picking and storage conditions matter.
