About this plant

Pothos can trail or climb, making it useful for adding foliage above floor level. A long bare stretch of stem may indicate a need for better light or a selective trim rather than more fertiliser.

Care at a glance

Light
Indirect light, with brighter conditions for a fuller display.
Temperature
60-85 °F
Watering
Water after the upper compost dries; empty collected drainage water.
Soil
A draining houseplant mix in a container with open drainage holes.

Plan your care

Choose a reachable shelf rather than placing the pot so high that the roots cannot be checked. Guide vines along a support or allow them to trail without obstructing doors and lights.

A thinning stem is a prompt to review light and pruning. Trim selectively above a node if a fuller outline is wanted, and assess new growth rather than expecting old bare sections to become leafy immediately.

Growing tips

Keep out of harsh direct sun and let the upper compost dry before watering. Trim above a node to encourage a fuller outline. Keep trailing growth away from children and pets that might chew it.
