Care notes by theboxerge Updated
About this plant
Flowering kalanchoes combine fleshy leaves with clusters of small blooms. Orange, pink, red, white and yellow forms share the care approach here. The leaves store water, so keeping the compost continuously damp is a poor way to prolong the flowers.
Care at a glance
- Light
- Bright light, with gentle morning sun
- Temperature
- Frost-free indoors, away from cold windows and draughts.
- Watering
- Let the potting mix partly dry before watering
- Soil
- A freely draining succulent mix.
Plan your care
Choose a bright position with protection from the harshest summer sun. Check the mix beneath the surface before watering: a dry top can hide a still-wet root ball, especially inside an outer pot.
Water the compost, let it drain, and empty trapped water. Allow a clear drying interval before the next watering. Cooler, darker conditions usually lengthen that interval.
Remove faded flower clusters without damaging the leaves. Keep caring for the plant after the display ends, but do not interpret a flower-free period as a reason to increase water or feed. Repeat flowering depends on suitable light and seasonal conditions as well as a healthy plant.

These colour variants share the care guidance above. Choose by colour; check the label for any cultivar-specific instructions.
Growing tips
Keep the pot away from an icy window at night. Compare its moisture needs with your other houseplants rather than watering every pot in one routine.
